Transitioning from Code Compliant to High-Performance: Strategies for Residential Buildings

This course is instrumental in helping residential builders and architects move from simply complying with the energy code to incorporating high performance construction technologies and practices. The course consists of two major parts: 

1. Technologies that allow for a relatively easy and cost-effective transition to above-code performance.

2. The business case for making this transition – such as marketing high performance to customers, risk reduction via high performance practices, and high performance = high quality. 

In addition to introducing some innovative new technologies, this course will focus on case studies based on interviews with existing above-code builders and how they have successfully moved building practices that increase energy performance, are more sustainable, resilient, and still maintain, if not improve their bottom line.
